Structure Is the Strategy

Most business owners think tax planning is something that happens at year-end. Goldfin Advisory is built on the uncomfortable truth that by then, it's already too late.

There is a particular kind of financial pain that arrives with perfect punctuality. Your accountant sends the year-end figures. You see what you owe. You think: if only I'd known that six months ago. Then you pay the bill, file it away, and do exactly the same thing again next year.

Goldfin Advisory exists because this cycle is not inevitable. It is, however, very common.

Founded by Guilherme Oliveira and backed by the Certax Accounting network, Goldfin is a Chelmsford-based practice built around a specific and pointed argument: that the structure of your business, the way you pay yourself, the way you treat your profit, and the pension contributions you may never have properly considered are not administrative details. They are financial decisions, and they compound. Get them right throughout the year and the year-end looks very different.

The practice works primarily with sole traders, limited company directors, contractors and growing businesses. For contractors in particular, navigating IR35 and employment status assessments is the kind of thing that rewards having someone in your corner before a contract is signed, not after a dispute has already started. Goldfin does those assessments as a core part of the service, alongside VAT scheme reviews, director salary and dividend planning, and the pension and director benefits work that most accountants mention once and never revisit.

'Most business owners only hear from their accountant when something is due. No conversation about how to pay yourself more efficiently. No advice on structure, pensions, or what to do with profit. Just a bill and a signature.'

The mechanics are deliberately transparent. Fixed monthly fees run from £150 plus VAT for the Essentials plan (annual accounts, self-assessment, VAT returns, bookkeeping) up through the Growth plan at £250 plus VAT, which adds payroll, monthly management accounts and director salary planning, and into Premium and Enterprise tiers for businesses that need cashflow forecasting, quarterly strategy reviews and something closer to a CFO on call. The pricing is published. There are no surprise invoices.

Monthly management accounts matter here in a way they don't at practices that treat compliance as the whole job. A current picture of your margin, your cashflow position and what is coming next quarter is only useful if you receive it in time to act. Goldfin sends that picture every month, which is rather the point.

The free initial consultation is genuinely no-obligation, which means there is very little standing between a business owner and a clear-eyed conversation about whether their current setup is actually working for them. Company structure. Profit extraction. Pension contributions and their effect on the tax bill. The questions, in other words, that tend not to get asked until something has already gone wrong.

Goldfin Advisory is a young practice, built deliberately rather than quickly. That is, in its own way, the clearest signal of what kind of accountant Oliveira intends to be. Find out whether it is the right fit at goldfin.uk.
